What to Expect on Your First Visit

Brief Paperwork

Once you have made an appointment and arrive for your initial office visit, you will be asked to complete some paperwork. The paperwork you are asked to complete will consist of your health history, financial information, pain questionnaires, and other related forms that are specific for your case or condition.
All the information you provide will be thoroughly reviewed by Dr. Carlock prior to your consultation and examination.

Consultation

Upon your initial consultation, Dr. Carlock will determine if your health related problem requires an examination or if a referral is in order. He will ask specific questions about your condition and your history. If he determines that an examination is in order to further determine appropriate treatment he will do so at this time. If he determines your condition needs to be evaluated by another physician or another health care provider he will promptly refer you to the appropriate specialist.
Dr. Carlock works well with the medical community to provide a comprehensive approach in the treatment and management of a variety of complicated musculoskeletal conditions.

History & Examination

Depending on the severity of your condition Dr. Carlock will perform a thorough examination which will include, but not limited to, the following: recording your vital signs, a regional orthopedic and neurological evaluation, postural analysis, manual muscle testing, grip strength testing, and evaluation of your reflexes. Further testing such as computerized gaitscan analysis, computerized j-tech testing, blood work, urinalysis, x-rays, MRI, CT-scan, or bone scan may be ordered to accurately diagnose your condition.

Home Instructions

Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted or to be avoided at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions; avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches.

Schedule Your Next Appointment

Same day treatment is available for severe cases; however, you will normally be scheduled for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 24 to 48 hours and are provided with a complete review of findings. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time with Dr. Carlock and the staff will cover any questions regarding your financials.
